My name is Dominika Jarża.
I am a visual artist.
My work is a process — a movement between line, colour, matter and gesture. I am not looking for a single, closed language. What interests me is precisely its ability to change. I began with colour: intense, dense, full of tension.
Later came the need for reduction. Taking away instead of adding. The line became faster, more intuitive, sometimes almost raw.
Today I also return to matter — texture, structure, layers and the traces left by the tool, the hand and the act of painting itself.
I do not see these changes as separate stages. They are more like moving in a circle. I return to things I already know, but each time I look at them differently.
I am interested in the moment when an image stops being merely a representation and becomes a record of a state. That is why I can build a form only to disturb it a moment later. Cover a fragment. Cut through it with a line. Leave something unsaid. Let the next layer preserve a trace of what was there before.
My works do not tell stories directly. They hold on to something earlier — tension, a gesture, an emotion that has not yet been named.
I paint, leaving traces.
And perhaps that is why I am not interested in arriving at one final place.

CREATIVITY STUDIO — creativity beyond the ordinary
For years I have run Pracownia Kreatywności — the Creativity Studio — in Katowice. It is a place where art is not the goal, but a tool. I do not teach “pretty drawing”. I teach people to look, feel and create their own language.
There is no single correct image. There is no single correct line. Children work with different materials — paint, paper and three-dimensional forms. They experiment, search and make mistakes. Because creating is not about the final effect. It is a way of thinking about the world.
In this work, the process matters more than the result. And so does the moment when someone truly meets their own imagination for the first time.
It comes back to me as well. Freshness, spontaneity, freedom from patterns — all of this later appears in my paintings. I run a place where I can pass this way of seeing on to others.
